Fatima Ahmad is a recognized leader in clean energy & the intersection of AI and energy systems. She is known for helping policymakers, companies, and NGOs advance energy innovation through the development of new and updated laws, regulations, and policies. 

Fatima is an influential voice at the frontier of energy policy - she has worked in the private sector with partners across the clean energy and climatetech ecosystem to transform markets and accelerate deployment of new energy technologies. Past clients included tech companies and investors, clean energy and transmission project developers, startups, and environmental groups.  

Through AI For Energy LLC, Fatima is building on that experience to help organizations harness the power of AI to address today’s most pressing energy challenges. 

CONGRESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Fatima served as Senior Counsel to the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, where she crafted legislative options for lawmakers to advance a clean energy economy. The 2020 Congressional Climate Crisis Action Plan led to the energy and climate provisions in the:

The Select Committee made a significant impact: Of the 715 recommendations in the Climate Crisis Action Plan, 314 became law and 438 passed the House of Representatives by the end of 2022. During the Biden-Harris Administration, implementation of the new laws led to a clean energy and manufacturing boom across the country.   

Despite Federal policy setbacks in 2025, the analysis, consensus building, and thought leadership provided by the Select Committee in the 116th and 117th Congresses will ensure that continued progress on climate action can build on a strong foundation.

Administration Experience

During the Obama Administration, Fatima served at the U.S. Department of the Interior as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

At DOI, Fatima promoted inter-agency collaboration and facilitated the licensing of 10,000 MW of wind, solar, and geothermal energy projects on public land during the first term. 

During the George W. Bush Administration, Fatima served at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as an Attorney-Advisor. Fatima helped NOAA develop regulations, issue permits, and conduct environmental analysis to support decision-making. 

Private Sector and NGO Experience

Fatima was most recently a Senior Vice President for Clean Energy at Boundary Stone Partners, where she worked with partners across the clean energy and climatetech ecosystem to transform markets and accelerate deployment of new energy technologies. Past clients included tech companies and investors, clean energy and transmission project developers, startups, and environmental groups.  

Fatima also served as a Senior Solutions Fellow at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions, where she authored publications bridging climate policy, finance, and technology. Her work provides actionable insights for advancing U.S. climate action through policy innovation and leveraging market forces to deploy new technological solutions.

Fatima began her career as an attorney at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, where she advised Fortune 500 companies on compliance with Federal and state environmental laws and regulations, conducted due diligence on potential environmental liabilities to support corporate acquisitions and real estate transactions, and provided advice on revising contracts to reduce risks.

Fatima earned her B.A. with distinction in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, establishing a robust foundation in policy analysis, law, and strategic decision-making.

Recognizing her influence on environmental law, Fatima was elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2018. The ABF is an honorary society of attorneys, judges, and scholars whose careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the legal profession.
